Leading local builder Bryant Homes has donated a substantial £2,000 to help anchor the future of The Royal British Legion Club at Wivenhoe quayside.

Bryant is keen to encourage more local people to use the facility and made its donation through the Wivenhoe Ocean Racing Club (WORC), which holds its meetings at The Royal British Legion Club.

Martyn Carrick, Honorary Secretary of WORC, says: “We are very grateful to Bryant Homes for its £2,000 donation, which will be put towards the restoration of the 150-year-old building to ensure The Royal British Legion Club remains at the heart of the Wivenhoe community for years to come.

“It is donations such as this, combined with the support of local people, which will ensure the Club becomes a viable and attractive quayside venue for functions, parties and meetings, and during annual events.”

Debra Knight, Sales Manager for Bryant Homes, says: “We’re delighted to offer our support for the upkeep of The Royal British Legion Club in Wivenhoe, which is a terrific venue and is thoroughly deserving of support from within the local community.

“We are building a collection of new homes at the Cooks Shipyard development as part of the revitalisation of the waterfront in Wivenhoe, and hope that those moving in will become a part of a new generation of people who will support the Club and benefit from having such a venue on their doorstep.”

At Cook’s Shipyard, Bryant Homes is building on the past to create an exciting future for homebuyers.

As well as the outstanding homes available, the revitalised quayside development will comprise places of work and leisure opportunities set around the water’s edge.

The exclusively styled Bryant Homes apartments are priced from £164,995 and take inspiration from the nautical nature of its waterfront location, with designs including ‘Boathouse’, ‘Pier’ and ‘Keel’.

Selected apartments benefit from balconies and private terraces to the living areas and bedrooms, while all homes at on the development enjoy a high standard specification including fitted kitchen with built-in oven, hob and hood, double glazing and gas central heating.

The development faithfully reflects the weatherboard and soft red brickwork architecture of this historic fishing and seaport.

Wivenhoe’s oldest inn, restaurants and bistros serving fresh local seafood are within a stroll of the new properties, while the town is already home to shops for everyday needs, a railway station and cosmopolitan restaurants, cafes, bistros and bars.

For a wider choice of shopping, leisure and schools, Colchester town centre is less than five miles away, while a range of attractions can be found in the area, including the world-famous Beth Chatto Gardens, Constable’s Flatford Mill and the National Trust’s Paycocke’s at Coggeshall.

To find out more about Cooks Shipyard, visit the Marketing Suite located off Anglesea Road, Wivenhoe, and open Thursday to Monday 10am until 6pm.
