David Bexon, Managing Director of smartnewhomes.com, comments on the report published today by the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA):

“Today’s discussion paper, highlighting a one million shortfall of new homes in England by the end of next year, provides a strong message on the extent of the crisis and the impact that such a severe supply shortfall will have on the country – one that this and any future government will find difficult to ignore.

“The report highlights the detrimental effect the shortage will have on economic prosperity, wealth equality and public services. This may prove the catalyst for bringing about the sustained public intervention called for in the TCPA report, something the government has so far proved unwilling to commit to, despite frequent warnings from the industry over the threat to homeownership and a potential second unsustainable price boom.”
