There is fantastic news for first time buyers looking for the perfect starter home at a great price which is just a five minute drive into the centre of Durham.

Taylor Wimpey have just reopened its Langley View development due to increasing demand from local communities who want high quality homes at low prices in the nearby area. Langley View is an exclusive development of high quality two and three bedroom mews and semi-detached homes starting from just £91,995, making it ideal for first time buyers.

With the housing market steadily gaining strength, househunters are being offered the opportunity to make substantial savings by buying a property off-plan at Langley View for 2010 completion.

Buying a new home off-plan at the development offers a host of advantages, the main factor is buying your property at a guaranteed price, even if other properties of the same design on the development increase in value.

Joan Peart, regional sales and marketing director commented: “Buying a property in the pre-construction or early construction stage brings many obvious advantages such as the chance to choose a favourite plot on the development and the likelihood that the property will increase in value once it’s been built, which makes it a great investment for first time buyers in particular.

She added: “The interior of the home and its fixtures and fittings are also an important influencing factor when it comes to choosing somewhere to live and this is where buying off-plan is particularly useful because you buy earlier in the process. As well as potentially saving thousands of pounds, you have more say over the interior of your new home including items such as kitchen units, appliances and bathroom suites.”

When complete, Langley View will comprise 71 homes and there will be three house types to choose from. The Rydal, a charming two bedroom home ideal for new starters from £91,995, together with the three bedroom Grasmere and Buttermere mews homes from £99,995.

Each property benefits from an impressive open-plan living and dining room to the rear of the property and a fully fitted kitchen and a cloak room to the front.

Upstairs, the Rydal comprises two good-sized bedrooms and a bathroom, while the Buttermere and Grassmere feature a bathroom and three bedrooms. The Grasmere also boasts an en-suite shower room to the master bedroom.

Set on Hill Top View, over-looking the village, the new development offers an enviable location for new home buyers only a few minutes walking distance from local shops and amenities and within two miles of Durham City Centre.

Taylor Wimpey is also offering a range of deals tailor-made for all types of buyers who are looking to buy at the development such as its Deposit Match scheme for first time buyers and its Easymover programme where the housebuilder handles the selling of a buyer’s existing house.

Langley Park boasts many shops including a local butcher and small supermarkets, and it has its own amenities such as a post office, doctors’ surgery and a community centre. For residents with young families there is also a village school for infants and juniors.

The village has a good bus service into Durham, Consett and Newcastle and, with a large supermarket just three miles away and Arniston Centre Retail Park nearby, residents have lots of shopping options close to home.
