Marske-by-the-Sea sits between Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Redcar and the village in East Cleveland offers an attractive area that could appeal as a location to families or young professionals.
The main place of work for residents of Marske is in nearby Redcar or Middlesbrough, with all of the necessary amenities to be found within the village such as schools and local shops.
Marske was home to a landing strip for the Royal Flying Corps,, which also had schools in the village. It was also home to the first RAF base from where the Red Devil was flown. Another of its claims to fame is that it is made reference to in the Domesday Book.
Winkies Castle is the area's museum and contains 6,000 artefacts. Despite its name, the venue is not in fact a castle but a cruck house that used to be owned by a cobbler named Jack Anderson.
It was in the 1840s that the railway was expanded to Redcar, but it was not until the 1860s that it reached Saltburn and Marske.
Something that could attract first-time buyers to the area is the five per cent deposit being offered on properties from Yuill homes. The incentive applies to houses in its St Germains Gardens development, off Windy Hill Lane.
St Germains Gardens properties include two and three bedroom homes that claim to have added extras but are still reasonably priced. The development is also just half a mile away or less from the school and train station.
Young professionals are likely to appreciate the close location to both the high speed East Coast Mainline and A174, which could be good news for those who commute. It is also in close proximity to the Durham Tees Valley Airport, which could be useful for those planning their annual summer holidays abroad.
Living spaces have been designed with storage in mind and are stylishly finished with a three bedroom property priced at around £145,950.
