Operatives that make home visits in the Thames Valley region are set to use new technology.

The Thames Valley Housing Association has invested in 1st Touch mobile technology.

Using the electronic device will mean that staff are able to send reports from site digitally.

The association is currently responsible for 11,000 affordable homes and shared ownership schemes in the Thames Valley basin and London regions.

1st touch has already been successfully trialed by other companies, to the housing association's knowledge.

Its handheld system uses Smart Airtime for sending information back to the office and is said to have low operational costs.

Housing association inspectors are required to report back on their visits as soon as possible – commenting on how well a property has been kept.

The new electronic system means there is no need to fill out large amounts of paperwork and therefore assists the association in one of its key priority areas - ensuring that sites are kept in a good state.

Use of the system will commence over the next few months.

Thames Valley Housing Association's mission is to make peoples' lives better by providing them with affordable homes that are of a high quality.
