When Lisa Pedder-Smith chose her dream family home at a popular Bryant Homes development in Norfolk, not even the foundations had been laid.

But the 33-year-old mum still knew she had picked the perfect place to bring up her two young sons, having seen just what could be achieved with the spacious three-bedroom house she had chosen at Windmill Chase in Downham Market.

In fact, the very instant Lisa stepped across the threshold of the beautifully-decorated ‘Conway’ showhome at another Bryant development in nearby Thetford, she realised it was a match made in heaven!

“The moment I walked through the door, it felt like a home from home,” she remembers.

“You can get a good idea of what a house is going to be like from the plans, but with a showhome you get a real feel for the place and what it will be like to live in.

“I knew straight away that this was the house I wanted for me and my boys and, now that we’ve moved in to our own ‘Conway’ at Windmill Chase, we really love it.

“It’s really roomy and the kitchen/diner is great for socialising. My new place feels like much more of a family home than the two-bedroom house we were living in before.”

By reserving her brand new home before it was built, Lisa, a nurse, made the most of a wealth of great advantages afforded by off-plan purchasing.

Not only did she get to hand pick a range of interior options including wall tiles, flooring and kitchen fittings, but she and her sons were also able to monitor the progress of the build – watching with mounting excitement as it developed from a mere plot of earth into their brand new home.

Wisely, Lisa decided to move from her previous house in Cambridgeshire to rented accommodation in Downham Market while her new home was being built, giving her boys Kian (7) and Kaelin (5) the chance to get settled at a new school.

And she found the whole experience refreshingly straightforward, despite hearing the familiar horror stories about the ‘nightmare’ of moving house.

She says: “Moving house is supposed to be one of the most stressful things you will ever do in your life, but we just sailed through the whole process without a problem.

“All the hard work was taken away because the house was decorated to our specification and everything was ready by the time we moved in. It was all so easy and the Bryant Homes team was absolutely excellent.”

Homes at Windmill Chase continue to be in high demand with buyers, but a selection of stylish properties to suit all tastes, requirements and budgets is still available for fast-moving property seekers.

One-bedroom apartments at the development are priced from just £74,995, two-bedroom homes are available for as little as £89,995 and three-bedroom homes are on sale from only £134,995.

The three-bedroom ‘Harvington’, for example, is ideal for growing families like Lisa’s and features a spacious lounge with French doors to the private rear garden, a modern kitchen and a downstairs cloakroom.

The magnificent master bedroom occupies the entire top storey of the property, and includes an en-suite shower room and built-in wardrobe, while two further bedrooms and a family bathroom are on the first floor.

All new homes at Windmill Chase benefit from a garage or at least one allocated parking space, and are completed to a high-standard specification, including double glazing, central heating and fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood.

Perfectly located just a short walk from Downham Market town centre and its railway station’s direct services to King’s Cross, Windmill Chase takes its name from the historic Denver Windmill, restored recently to mill flour for locally produced bread.

The town offers a wide selection of high street shops, supermarkets, specialist stores and a twice-weekly market in addition to a leisure centre and swimming pool, two parks, tennis courts, squash courts and a golf course.

For days out, the flowers and birdlife of Welney nature reserve are close by, and Downham Market is within a 45-minute drive of the beautiful sandy beaches of the North Norfolk coastline, while the towns of King’s Lynn, Wisbech and Ely are all within easy reach by road.

To find out more about the great-value range of homes at Windmill Chase, visit the Marketing Suite and showhome, located off Bennett Street, Downham Market, and open Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm and Monday from 1.30pm to 5pm.
