Potential first-time buyers intimidated by the thought of buying a new home are invited to a HomeBuy Direct event organised by Barratt this weekend.

Barratt West Midlands is opening its Skyline development on Bath Row in Birmingham to people looking to buy a new home.

First-time buyers and other interested parties will be able to speak to experts about affordable homes, financing and the government's HomeBuy Direct scheme.

Sales manager Lisa Thacker said HomeBuy Direct is not only for first-time buyers but also for property owners who feel their current home does not offer them enough space.

"This weekend is therefore the ideal opportunity for homebuyers to find out if they could be eligible for the initiative," she said.

HomeBuy Direct is available to households with an annual income of less than £60,000.

Those eligible for the scheme could be given an equity loan of a maximum of 30 per cent of the purchase price of new build offers brought forward by developers.ADNFCR-1100-ID-19483670-ADNFCR
