New homes will be built in Irvine Harbour if a planning application by property developer Urban Splash is successful.
The North Ayrshire location in Scotland has been identified by the firm as an ideal spot for a mixed-used site, comprising residential, business and leisure units.
Tom Bloxham, chairman of the company, said: "By focusing on quality architecture and creating a strong sense of place [we can] transform Irvine into a great place where people will want to live and work."
In addition to the new homes, Urban Splash will construct restaurants and shop units to improve the quayside area.
It is anticipated that a response to the application will be received by February of next year and - if approved, the project is expected to take several years to finish.
The design is estimated to cover an area up to 2,800 m sq for business space and will feature as many as 360 new homes.
Urban Splash was created as the result of a collaboration between an architect and a history graduate who joined forces with two builders, a designer and a chartered surveyor in 1993.
