House-hunters holding on for a dream home in Kent have an amazing new opportunity as work begins on a stunning development near West Malling in Kent.

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is constructing Birling Grange, a superb new neighbourhood of one and two-bedroom apartments through to magnificent six-bedroom homes interspersed with 150 acres of green open spaces which will include allotments, playing fields and children’s play areas.

The national Homes and Communities Agency chose Taylor Wimpey as its preferred developer for the site of the former Leybourne Grange Hospital, enabling plans for its range of high-quality homes and community facilities to go ahead.

As well as offering a great choice of maintenance-free, well-designed homes for families and first-time buyers, Taylor Wimpey’s brand new apartments and houses will come equipped with eco-friendly innovations including rain-water harvesting, and selected properties will benefit from solar-powered water heating.

A biomass boiler will provide additional energy and will use plants grown on-site or locally as fuel. Whenever possible, existing on-site materials will be recycled, and the attractive Victorian manor house will be retained as a feature of Birling Grange.

Laura Bellamy, Regional Sales Manager for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Birling Grange is set to become a highly desirable place to live in semi-rural north Kent, yet within easy reach of Maidstone – and with such a great range of homes being built, it’s a community that will attract all types of homebuyer.

“In time, the development will benefit from a good selection of local amenities, including a community centre, a shop, a school and a health centre, while there is a choice of primary schools within a mile of the new homes, in the neighbouring villages of West Malling and Leybourne.

Local amenities include infant and junior schools, shops and pubs, while nearby Aylesford is home to a wider choice of shopping, and schools for children of all ages.

For commuters, West Malling Railway Station is just over a mile from the development, Maidstone is a 15-minute drive, and quick links to the M20 put London an hour away by road.
