Michael Fergus Bowes-Lyon - the 18th Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne- officially opened McCarthy & Stone’s Strathmore Court development on Kirkton Place in Forfar, on Friday 4 December, 2009 by unveiling a commemorative plaque, and meeting several residents who have already chosen Strathmore Court as their new retirement home.

Strathmore Court is the first development of its kind in Forfar to offer retirement living. The development comprises a good mix of 42 one and two bedroom apartments which are tailored to the needs of older people with on-site facilities such as a laundry-room, a central lounge for recreation and social events, a lift and a hotel-style guest suite for friends and family who wish to visit. Prices currently start from £99,450.

Plus, for added peace of mind there’s a 24-hour personal emergency service, as well as a TV security-system monitoring the main entrance. A house manager is responsible for daily management of gardeners, window-cleaners and maintenance staff, as well as helping to organise social events with the residents.

It’s been an honour to welcome The Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne to mark the official opening of Strathmore Court as Steve Wiseman, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy & Stone comments: “I was absolutely delighted to welcome The Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne to Strathmore Court to see for himself just how popular this style of retirement living is proving to be in Forfar. Many of the resident’s were also very proud to welcome him to the development, and in fact into their own apartments – proving that your home really is your castle!”

The Earl of Strathmore & Kinghorne added: “I was absolutely delighted to be asked to come here today and officially open the Strathmore Court Retirement Home. May I thank Mr Wiseman and congratulate him and all his staff at McCarthy & Stone for such a magnificent development.”

For more information visit the development, which is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30am -5pm.
