Affordable homes are to be built across the UK following confirmation that government funding is to be increased.
Nearly 200 new homes will be built in the West Midlands, as the region is benefiting from £10 million of £278 million announced by housing minister John Healey.
Overall, £2 billion has been made available since June and Mr Healey pledged that the trend would continue in 2010.
"This is what it means to use the power of government investment to help the country through the recession by building the homes we need," he said, noting that housebuilders have been able to provide
affordable homes thanks to money to kickstart stalled schemes.
Those seeking
affordable homes in Barnet were recently offered a boost by Countryside Properties, which is working with Annington Homes in the area and recently completed 90 new units - with environmental technology designed to lower energy bills for residents.
