The government may have announced an end to the stamp duty holiday, but leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has pledged to continue to cover the cost of the tax for its purchasers on selected properties at its Cricketers View development in Bolton. The housebuilder hopes the move will further boost recovery in the housing market as well as save buyers thousands of pounds.

The government scheme had made properties under £175,000 temporarily exempt from the duty, but purchasers will now have to pay the one per cent tax for properties costing between £125,000 and £250,000. The cost is even greater for larger homes – three per cent on houses priced between £250,000 and £500,000 and four per cent for those over £500,000.

Jason Newton, regional sales and marketing director, comments: “The stamp duty holiday was largely seen as a step in the right direction and provided much needed support for many first time buyers particularly in Bolton where a number of properties are under £175,000. Our scheme will continue to support these purchasers as well as those buying larger houses where the cost of stamp duty is even greater.”

Paying purchasers’ stamp duty is just one of a range financial and practical initiatives Taylor Wimpey is currently offering to help get people moving. The housebuilder also offers a range of time and money-saving incentives, including help with deposits, legal fees and stamp duty for first-time buyers and assistance with selling an existing property and moving house for current homeowners.

Offers can be tailored to customers' individual circumstances and are subject to availability. The expert sales teams at Taylor Wimpey's Cricketers View development will be on hand to answer any questions.

Cricketers View is a stylish collection of three and four bedroom detached homes and two bedroom apartments, offering homebuyers all the space and privacy they could want, for less than they think. There are currently a range of three and four bedroom detached properties available which, starting from just £159,950, are excellent value for money.
