Homebuyers in the East Midlands have been boosted by a government scheme that supports their mortgage repayments.
The HomeBuy Direct initiative, which was launched last year, allows first-time buyers to purchase a property for 70 per cent of its price.
Under the programme, the remaining 30 per cent is covered by a loan from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Now, developer David Wilson has announced that half of all sales at its Montgomery Gardens location in Earl Shilton have been made possible by the government scheme.
Six buyers have managed to get onto the property ladder as a result of HomeBuy Direct, the firm said.
Philip Lacey, sales director at David Wilson, commented: "This is without doubt the most popular deal at this development and it is proving a welcome lifeline to purchasers concerned about living beyond their means during the current economic climate."
HomeBuy Direct was initially expected to terminate in March this year but its popularity has led the government to extend it until the end of 2010.
