A development consisting of a number of
affordable homes has been opened in Ashtead by Lady Elizabeth Toulson, the High Sheriff of Surrey.
A total of 35 eco-friendly homes, consisting of one and two-bedroom apartments, have been constructed by Lovell for Mount Green Housing Association.
The apartments have been built close to Ashtead High Street and each meets Level Tree of the Code for Sustainable Homes. Incorporating photovoltaic panels on the roofs and high levels of insulation, the new properties are replacing a number of outdated flats.
Mount Green Housing Association chief executive Nick Ronald said that stakeholders had given "excellent feedback" on the apartments, while Steve Coombs, Lovell's regional director, said the company is "proud to have helped create this new, much-needed affordable housing".
The £4.4 million development entered the construction phase in November 2008, with work on the flats set to be completed by the end of this month.
Earlier this month, Lovell secured a £4.3 million deal to build new energy-efficient council homes in Birmingham.
