The Mayors of Chorley and South Ribble joined forces to officially open four fully furnished show homes from Redrow’s New Heritage Collection at Buckshaw Village.
The new urban village, which straddles the boundaries of Chorley and South Ribble borough councils, is the first to feature the award-winning developer’s exclusive New Heritage Collection, launched nationally this month.
The New Heritage Collection offers a premium housing product with more than a hint of nostalgia, influenced by the ‘Arts and Crafts’ era.
Cllr Iris Smith, Mayor of Chorley, and Cllr Don Parkinson, Mayor of South Ribble, cut the ribbon to the four fully furnished show homes at The Village Green phase of Buckshaw Village, during an event attended by local estate agents, solicitors and other property professionals from the area.
Designed to be instantly recognisable, The New Heritage Collection – as seen at Buckshaw Village - features traditional looking homes with all the character of an older period style property; and none of the drawbacks. Their high-specification interiors meet the demands of modern lifestyles and they are significantly more energy efficient than their second-hand counterparts.
One of the most popular and enduring of domestic architectural styles, the Arts and Crafts influence can be seen in many so-called ‘character’ homes from later periods, especially the 1920s and 1930s.
Christine Aitken, sales director of Redrow Homes (Lancashire), explains: “The new homes were designed with the help of feedback from our customers and consumer focus groups. Main points we took on board were most people’s desire for a conventional two-storey home, preferably detached, with an easily accessible garage and a garden of their own.
“They also wanted something that looked traditional – maybe evocative of the home they grew up in - but with the latest, statement-making kitchens, bathrooms and quality fixtures and fittings.
“In reply, some of the key architectural influences, styles, shapes, colours and textures reflected in the Arts and Crafts movement have been brought right up to date with high-specification interiors styled for modern living.
“It’s been an overwhelming success so far with 8 sales already at Buckshaw Village, with some people reserving off-plan even before the show homes were open and other customers signalling their intention to buy by signing up for ‘Mastermove’, which helps those with an existing property still to sell.”
The four professionally designed and decorated show homes at The Village Green create a stunning shop window for the three and four-bedroom homes available. Prices are currently from £189,995 for a ‘Tenby 2’ design, which features a master bedroom with en-suite and built in wardrobes, plus spacious open plan kitchen / dining room with French doors to the garden.
Also available is the four-bedroom detached ‘Cambridge’ from £263,995. This impressive family home includes a fabulous open plan kitchen, dining and family room overlooking the back garden – with ample space for two sofas and a coffee table as well as a six-seater dining table.
Some of the external features which typify the Arts and Crafts era - and can be seen in varying degrees on the Chorley homes - include dropped eaves, projecting plinths, bays and other distinctive window styles, often with leaded lights.
