A new London development based on the site of a former commercial laundry has won a rare code level 4 award for sustainable housing design.
The properties starting at around £275,000 in Golders Green, London are described by developers Knight Frank as the most ecologically designed living spaces in the country.
Cassandra Elliot, partner at the company, said: "This is the first development I have seen that successfully delivers what the market wants with sustainability in mind.
"Apartments are filled with light, are tastefully fitted out and all benefit from outside space. This is an example to other developers of how to get it right."
Each home has been designed to be run with minimal impact on the environment in terms of carbon emissions, effective resource use and conservation.
The code level four is awarded to homes that can successfully reduce carbon emissions by almost half (44 per cent), achieving sustainability in nine areas including carbon emissions, water usage, materials, surface water run-off, waste, pollution, health and well-being, management and ecology.
