Inspired by Gilbertfield Castle - a ruined early 17th century castle that’s located nearby on Dechmont Hill – Taylor Wimpey’s Gilbertfield development features a choice of 44 family homes in Cambuslang, on the south-eastern outskirts of Glasgow and within an easy travelling distance of the city centre. There’s a mix of 42 four bedroom detached homes, as well 2 three bedroom semi detached family homes for customers to choose from.
Each of the new styles - the three bedroom semi detached Chalmers, as well as the four bedroom detached Douglas, Fairbairn, Geddes, Hume and the Maxwell –-boast a refreshingly stylish and practical layout, that offers families the opportunity to enjoy spacious homes to get on with every-day living, whilst still being just a short journey away from the buzz of the city-centre of Glasgow. Prices start from £175,000 for the three bedroom semi detached Chalmers.
Taylor Wimpey’s Scotland range is new for 2010, and consists of 14 core styles of homes each named after famous Scots. There’s a choice of two and three bedroom terrace and semi detached homes, as well as three, four and five bedroom detached homes. There is also a range of apartments within the range.
Each property style is designed to reflect the most current Scottish Building standards, and is also adaptable to accommodate the sustainable planning policy SPP 6 where required.
Energy-efficiency has also been maximised with improvements to windows, and insulation in the floors, walls and roof in order to achieve improved thermal performance resulting in impressive SAP ratings. And each plot will now also come complete with its own energy performance certificate.
In terms of Gilbertfield specifically, around 23 of the homes will also come fitted with solar PV panels which will ensure a 15% reduction of the developments’ carbon foot-print - achieving the Scottish Government’s 15% emissions reduction target for the site.
Being the first development to offer the company’s new ‘Scotland’ range will put this development firmly on the map as Susan McDonald, sales manager for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland adds: “With Kirkhill golf course nearby, a collection of brand-new homes, and a quiet location in Cambuslang, Gilbertfield offers so many reasons for buyers to consider this as their next move.
“Our new ‘Scotland’ range is a complete collection of homes and apartments that have been designed with today’s well-informed buyer in mind. We’ve refined and re-designed the interior and exteriors to create a range of homes that offer practical, thoughtful and stylish spaces that will appeal to a wide range of buyers.
“Plus, we’re taking an active role in striving for better sustainable developments that aim to create lifetime homes and carbon foot-print reductions that are in-line with Scottish Government’s aspirations, and Gilbertfield is just the first development of many to benefit from this.”
Every home in the new ‘Scotland’ range is designed to be able to offer a more practical and considered living environment that’s universally more accessible to a wider range of consumers, with each new style working hard to deliver an improved floor-layout that maximises every-day living for all.
A handy level access is provided to every property to make getting inside easy, plus there are turning circles and approved ‘activity’ spaces where appropriate. Downstairs there is an allowance of space for a shower should this be required in the future by the property-owner.
A space allowance at the bottom of every stair-case allows for the installation of a stair-lift should it become required, and door widths have increased to ensure passage throughout the house is easy. In addition, one of the rooms on the ground-floor of each property has also been designed to allow it to be transformed into a downstairs bedroom.
