First time buyers in Ystrad Mynach could discover that home ownership is easier and more affordable than they realised thanks to Redrow.

The award-winning homebuilder is hosting a special first time buyers’ event at its Cwm Calon venture on Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14 to help those starting out in life get a foot on the property ladder – for less.

Luly Brice, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Wales) “At Redrow we understand that buying a home, particularly your first, is a big step. With our choice of affordable new homes at competitive prices, working out which mortgage product is best for you is almost certain to be more difficult than choosing which property you want to invest in. To help make things simpler, we’ve enlisted the help of an independent financial advisor.”

Properties available at Cwm Calon include a selection of two and three-bedroom homes, with prices starting from as little as £124,000.

Redrow is helping to make buying a home more affordable with its ‘easi:buy’ scheme, which allows purchasers to defer paying 15% of the purchase price of selected properties for up to 10 years. So a brand new home could be yours for an initial outlay of just £105,400.

“The deferred payment is designed to help first time buyers, who would otherwise be priced out of the property market, to invest in their future and a home of their own rather than spending money on rent,” Luly explained.

“It also eases some of the stress of having to save for a large deposit as with ‘easi:buy’ purchasers only have to apply for a mortgage which represents 85% of the full value of the property – hopefully giving them access to some of the better interest rates around.”

The ‘easi:buy’ payment is subject to terms and conditions and the deferred element is paid back at market value at the time of payment, which could go down as well as up.

An independent financial advisor will be on hand from 10am to 12 noon on March 13 and 14 to explain more about ‘easi:buy’ and to offer impartial mortgage advice.

Visitors will also be able to appreciate the benefits of owning a brand new home.

“Some older, second hand properties might seem like a bargain but that’s before you’ve spent thousands of pounds fixing the previous owners’ DIY disasters and bringing the interior right up to date,” Luly commented.

“When you buy a brand new Redrow home you don’t need to worry about expensive repairs and renovations as all our properties have contemporary kitchens and bathrooms with quality fixtures and fittings.”

Situated on part of the former Penallta colliery site, Cwm Calon has been carefully planned to cater for residents’ every need, from a brand new road link to the A470 to a new Welsh speaking primary school. The nearby railway station offers easy travel to Cardiff in just 20 minutes.
