Having come home from previous holidays to find roof tiles had blown off and their garden had flooded, retirees Dave and Jenny Reynolds decided to buy a property they won’t have to worry about while they sip their cocktails.
The couple have recently purchased a two bedroom apartment at McCarthy & Stone’s Brooklands Court development, situated off Tamworth Road in Long Eaton, enabling them to spend months away on holiday with total peace of mind.
Dave, 65, said: “We used to live in a three bedroom bungalow, but whenever we went away our thoughts invariably turned to what was happening at home. We wondered if the garden had grown wild, the fence had blown down or a pipe had burst. We could never completely relax so we decided to buy a new apartment which we could just lock up and leave.”
“We often joked about purchasing an apartment in Southampton or Bournemouth, so we could roll out of bed and on to a cruise ship. We were keen to stay near our friends in the local area and glad that we came to view Brooklands Court,” explained Dave. “There are so many advantages to buying a McCarthy & Stone apartment over any other. Having a House Manager on hand to keep an eye on things, being surrounded by like-minded people and no worries about maintenance gives us the freedom to enjoy our retirement.
“We love to travel and as we are away for much of the year. It’s such a relief to be able to close our door and know that all will be as we left it when we return home. Brooklands Court is ideal for our lifestyle as you can’t buy peace of mind.”
Robin Pike, regional sales and marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone, said: “With the freezing weather we’ve been having it’s no wonder that many people are choosing to escape abroad. However, unless you rent out your main home during that period, which could lead to a whole host of other problems, there will always be the worry of what’s happening while you’re away.
“The solution for many retirees like Dave and Jenny has been to purchase a home in a development such as Brooklands Court, which include a host of security features to offer real peace of mind. A strong community spirit also means there’s always someone looking out for you and your property. If you’d like to find out more why not come and see us?”
Brooklands Court is a development of 48 one and two bedroom apartments on the Tamworth Road, less than one mile from the town centre. Long Eaton’s excellent commuter links, with a bus stop just walking distance from the development, ensure Derby and Nottingham are within easy reach. Long Eaton town centre has all the amenities of a modern town with two major supermarkets, a range of national and independent shops and a market.
