Those on the lookout for a new home that really updates their style are in for a double treat at Taylor Wimpey’s Academy Central development in Barking.

The leading house-builder has not only given its star-attraction show apartment a fresh and exciting revamp for spring, but it has also opened a fabulous three-bedroom ‘Quill’ showhome.

Both properties have been decorated and furnished by Derek Taylor, one of the UK’s leading interior designers and co-presenter of 60 Minute Makeover.

Michael O’Leary, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey East London, says: “The Academy Central showhomes look stunning and anyone searching for a new home in Barking and Dagenham should come along and take inspiration from these new designs.

“The homes give a flavour of just how good life in a new property can be, as well as showcasing the finishing touches – including kitchen upgrades, tiles, flooring and carpeting – that those reserving their place at Academy Central now can choose from to add detail and value to their choice of new home.”

The show apartment is an ideal starting point for those seeking a home at the development, where prices for apartments start from just £129,995 for a one-bedroom property, £159,995 for a two-bedroom home, and £188,995 for a three-bedroom apartment. A selection of four-bedroom houses are also available, with prices starting from £259,995.

All new homes at Academy Central are finished to a high standard specification including a fitted kitchen with integrated oven, hob and hood. Selected new apartments also have attractive balconies and en-suite master bedrooms in addition to the main bathroom.

Homes at Academy Central are designed to be 25% more energy efficient than properties built just three years ago, with higher levels of insulation and energy-efficient boilers. Plus, a number of homes feature ‘green roofs’ which help improve air quality, provide natural insulation and promote bio-diversity.

Hand-in-hand with the development, Taylor Wimpey and joint venture partner L&Q are investing millions in community facilities in Barking, including the creation of a new school and play facilities, adult education and training, the expansion of local bus services and the formation of ‘Green Link’ paths and cycleways.

Located off Longbridge Road, stretching across to Mayesbrook Park and bounded by Lodge Avenue, the area has great opportunities for work and leisure, with Vicarage Field, The Mall and Exchange Mall shopping centres all within easy reach.

A choice of health and fitness centres is also located nearby, while Mayesbrook Park provides 100 acres of green space on the doorstep, including football pitches, tennis and basketball courts, lakes and children’s playgrounds.

Goodmayes railway station is within walking distance of the development, offering regular services to London’s Liverpool Street in just over 20 minutes and to Stratford, home of the 2012 games, in only 13 minutes.

The showhomes and Sales Centre at Academy Central are located in Lodge Avenue, off Longbridge Road, Barking, and open Thursday to Monday, between 10am and 6pm.
