Teachers and pupils at Lymington Junior School said thank you to McCarthy & Stone after the retirement developer donated £1000 worth of materials towards a new outdoor classroom and garden at the school.
The developer donated 20 tonnes of hogging and 10 tonnes of ballast to help with the construction of the new building’s garden. Once complete, the classroom will be used by pupils at the school for a range of purposes including science, environmental studies and drama.
Sarah O’Flanagan, head teacher at Lymington Junior School, explains: “The children, through our school council, asked for an outside classroom with an environmental area they could tend themselves. After much hard work, and generous donations from companies such as McCarthy & Stone, we are all very excited to see this project near completion.”
Aileen King, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone South West, comments: “We have recently started construction at our development in Lymington and we’re always keen to help the communities in which we build. When we were approached by the school about their outdoor classroom project, we were delighted to be able to offer our support. We will look forward to the grand opening and hope children at Lymington Junior School get enjoyment from the new classroom and garden for years to come.”
The new classroom will be officially opened by the Mayor of Lymington on Monday 14th June.
McCarthy & Stone is currently building 42 one and two bedroom Assisted Living apartments on Avenue Road, exclusively for the over 70s. The new development is ideal for the retired buyer who is looking for daily assistance to enable them to live in their home for longer.
