Chancellor Alistair Darling has provided a welcome boost for first-time buyers by temporarily scrapping stamp duty on homes below £250,000 – but Taylor Wimpey has just gone one better at Altius in East London.

For a limited time only, the leading housebuilder is offering selected three-bedroom apartments priced from £289,995 with stamp duty paid at this popular development close to the London 2012 Olympic Village, saving purchasers at least £8,699!

This spectacular special offer provides yet another reason to choose a brand new home from the stunning Altius collection, and is sure to be a big hit with home-hunters – so anyone hoping to take advantage is being urged to act quickly.

Michael O’Leary, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “We’re delighted that the Chancellor is offering a helping hand to homebuyers with the new stamp duty holiday, but we don’t agree that those living outside London should be the only ones to benefit.

“That’s why we’re offering to pay the full 3% stamp duty on our fabulous selection of three-bedroom apartments at Altius. It’s an incredible offer but it can’t last for long, so buyers will have to be quick to avoid missing out.”

Three-bedroom apartments available at the fast-selling Altius development – where over 80% of all homes ready for 2010 have already been snapped up – range from just £289,995 to £319,995 and offer a wealth of light and airy living space for professionals and growing families.

Plot 540 for example, priced £289,995, features a spacious lounge/dining room and open-plan kitchen opening through to an attractive private balcony, while a bedroom/study and a handy guest cloakroom can also be found off the lower-floor entrance hallway, with the upper-floor landing leading to an en-suite master bedroom, a further good sized bedroom and a family bathroom.

A limited selection of stylish one-bed apartments is also available at the development from just £174,995.

Altius enjoys an excellent location close to the local shops, bars and restaurants of Clapton, and within easy reach of the City for commuters.

Clapton railway station is only a few minutes’ walk from the development, putting Liverpool Street approximately 10 minutes away, while drivers will appreciate that the A12, A13 and M25 are all within easy reach, plus London City Airport is only nine miles away.

Meanwhile, there’s plenty for those who lead an active lifestyle – Lee Valley Riding and Ice Centre, Springfield Rowing Club and a golf driving range are on the doorstep, plus a selection of health centres and leisure clubs.
