When Lesley Ward’s 80 year old mother Doreen Boreham decided it was time to sell the family home in Eastbourne and move closer to her daughter in Stevenage, both were surprised by how much they benefitted from the move!

Doreen moved into McCarthy & Stone’s Pinetree Court development on Danestrete last year after Lesley saw the development being built as she drove past.

Lesley said: “When my Dad died I was worried about my mum living in Eastbourne on her own, particularly when it took up to four hours to get there, depending on the M25 traffic. When I saw they were releasing the second phase of Pinetree Court I went to see the sales consultant as the development looked ideal for Mum.”

Lesley and Doreen decided to visit Pinetree Court to see what was on offer. After speaking to the sales executive, Doreen decided that Pinetree Court was the right place for her and reserved a one bedroom apartment.

Lesley added: “As Mum had lived in the same house for 20 years, moving was a massive upheaval for her. I’d talked to her at length about what she wanted to get out of the move and she was keen on finding somewhere that was close to our family, safe and easy to maintain and where she would be able to meet people. We had a tour of the development and were really impressed with the whole set up. Not only would mum be able to maintain ownership of a property and her independence, two things that were very important to her, she would also be able to benefit from a number of additional support services and features, should she require them.”

Doreen explains: “While I loved living in Eastbourne, my three bedroom home and garden were becoming too much for me to maintain on my own. Plus, the time it took to get between Eastbourne and Stevenage meant that I couldn’t see my family as much as I would have liked to. Moving to Pinetree Court meant I could be nearer to everyone and still retain my independence, so that I didn’t become reliant on anyone. I’m so glad I decided to make the move as I am so happy here.”

Lesley added: “It’s great to have Mum so close by. If anything happens and she needs me to be there, she’s only a few minutes away rather than a few hours. Mum’s move to Pinetree Court has given all of us peace of mind.”

Pinetree Court is a development of 45 one and two bedroom apartments with prices starting at £159,950. Located in the heart of Stevenage town centre and the pedestrian shopping centre, Stevenage offers a good range of shops and services to meet the needs of residents. There is also a bus station for travel in and around Stevenage, while the train station is just half a mile for services further afield, including to London.
