Ever wished you could be transported into the past to find out more about the changing face of where you live? Well, why not come along to a local history talk at McCarthy & Stone’s Cestrian Court development in Chester-le-Street?
On Thursday 13th May at 2pm Julian Harrop, Assistant Keeper of Resource Collections at Beamish Museum, will be giving a digital presentation called ‘Changing Views’ at the development on Newcastle Road. Julian has over 20 years experience at the Museum and will be talking to residents and visitors about how the County has changed over the years, using photographs taken over the last century to illustrate the transformation.
Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for McCarthy & Stone, said: “Just think about all the things that have happened in the region over the last century and how our transport, buildings, businesses and fashions have changed! If you’re keen to see how the face of where you live has been transformed then we’re inviting you to come along, meet Julian and find out more. Plus, there’s also the chance to see the kind of lifestyle you could be enjoying at Cestrian Court, with a look around the show apartment whilst you take afternoon tea.”
Those keen to find out more about life at Cestrian Court will be able to meet the team and take a look at the facilities enjoyed by residents to get a real feel for the development, whilst enjoying tea, coffee and cake after the talk.
Cestrian Court is a development of private apartments, specially designed for people aged 60 and over. Each one is connected to a 24-hour Careline system and TV camera security at the main entrance and a resident house manager keeps an eye on the day-to-day running of the development.
All the maintenance and strenuous gardening are taken care of by team of professionals, supervised by the house manager. Other work carried out by the maintenance team includes the upkeep of the shared facilities, which include a fully-equipped laundry room, a guest suite for friends and family who stay overnight, a lift to all floors and a residents’ lounge for socialising and relaxation.
