McCarthy & Stone’s Strathmore Court in Forfar is welcoming several new temporary residents as some of the town’s local ‘Puppy Walking Supervisors’ and their trainee Guide Dog pups move-in for a few hours to show off their skills at a charity event to raise funds from 11am until 3pm on Saturday 29 May, 2010 within the grounds of the development.
McCarthy & Stone’s Strathmore Court will also present a cheque for £800 to Guide Dogs from monies already collected from a series of other events that have been held at the development by residents in aid of this exceptional charity
Guide Dogs has been expertly breeding and training guide dogs for 75 years to provide mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people. It also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment, educates the public about eye care and funds eye disease research.
McCarthy & Stone’s Strathmore Court is already a firm supporter of the Guide Dogs as Claire Dunlop, marketing executive for McCarthy & Stone in Scotland explains: “Visual impairment is a fact of life, and one that can have a profound effect in later years, so we’re delighted to be able to once again continue our support for this local charity so whole-heartedly.
I hope that many of the local residents in Forfar will take the opportunity to pop along to our fundraising event on Saturday 29 May to show their support for the amazing work carried out by Guide Dogs, and see these inspiring guide-dog pups as they show off just how talented they are.”
Strathmore Court is the first development of its kind in Forfar to offer retirement living. The development comprises a good mix of 42 one and two bedroom apartments which are tailored to the needs of older people with on-site facilities such as a laundry-room, a central lounge for recreation and social events, a lift and a hotel-style guest suite for friends and family who wish to visit. Prices currently start from £99,450.
