£50 million of uncontracted Kickstart schemes are understood to be early victims of the government's first round of spending cuts, part of a £150 millon reduction in the housing pledge. The remaining £100 million will come from the affordable housing budget.
The cuts hit the Communities and Local Government department hardest, demanding a £780 million budget reduction. Further cuts to uncontracted and contracted Kickstart can therefore not be ruled out.
Meanwhile the government has announced it will bring forward a Decentralism and localism Bill in today's Queen's Speech, giving more powers over housing and planning decisions to local councils.
