David Bexon, Managing Director of smartnewhomes.com, comments on the Housing and Community Agency’s rumoured cuts to Kickstart funding:
“The rumoured £50 million cut to the HCA’s Kickstart scheme will serve only to hinder the housebuilding industry’s recovery. At a time when the UK desperately needs more new homes to meet growing demand, Kickstart provided the means to get many mothballed sites up and running again. The move comes as a blow not only to developers but also communities who would have benefitted from the creation of new jobs and improvements to the local infrastructure as a result of new developments in their area.
‘The announcement that all housing spending decisions have been put on hold by the HCA until the emergency budget on June 22, suggests that a grey cloud continues to linger over the industry.”
