More than 50% of the Kickstart and local authority new build (LANB) schemes under review following the change of government have been saved, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has announced.
Now, 44 out of a total of 74 Kickstart schemes and 61 LANB schemes out of a total of 91 which were not under contract before the election purdah period began will go ahead. This means that more than 4,800 new homes under Kickstart and more than 600 homes under LANB will be delivered, creating hundreds of new jobs and apprenticeships across England as well as housing.
HCA said that other funding opportunities still existed for schemes that did not secure Kickstart or LANB funding and that the agency would be working to progress this.
“Times are tough, but we’re working hard to do all we can to support the construction industry and revive housebuilding,” commented housing minister Grant Shapps.
