Steve Lees, Head of Marketing at smartnewhomes.com, comments on Kickstart:

“While a number of questions remain over the government’s housing policy, the saving of over 50% of Kickstart schemes suggests that, at long last, housing minister Grant Shapps is beginning to take the industry seriously.

“The 4,800 new homes that will be created as a result will help to meet mounting demand from buyers as well as benefiting local communities who will see improved job prospects and local infrastructure established.

“The news that the HCA will be looking to progress other funding opportunities is also encouraging as developers look to safeguard schemes, however, uncertainty still remains over the government's localism policy and how it is to be implemented.”
