A leading housebuilder has appointed a new senior manager to join its land department in the south east of England.

Having worked in the new homes industry for more than 25 years, Glen Wells brings a wealth of experience in land purchasing and development to Redrow Homes’ Eastern subsidiary, in Basildon, Essex.

He is relishing his new role and is keen to expand Redrow’s land bank in the region, which covers Essex, East Sussex, Kent and Suffolk.

Glen said: “Redrow has a fantastic reputation in the industry for quality homes and it’s now my job to ensure we find the right locations to build the next generation of homes and that they are viable developments.”

For the last four years Glen has been a director of his own construction company, during which time he oversaw all aspects of project management; from site acquisition to completion of building works. A decision was taken not to take on any new projects when his business partner emigrated overseas.

“This is a new challenge for me during what is still a difficult time for the housing industry,” Glen added. “But we have a strong team here and I’m confident we can overcome any hurdles and continue to move the business in the right direction.”

The 48-year-old, from Bapchild, near Sittingbourne, Kent, has previously worked as a land director at Wilson Connolly Homes. He began his career at George Wimpey in the sales department, before discovering his expertise lay in negotiating purchases rather than sales.

Redrow Homes (Eastern) currently has developments in Ipswich, Colchester, Maidstone, Tonbridge, Hailsham and Ashford, providing a range of housing from contemporary apartments to traditional family homes in rural, semi-rural and town centre locations. The company is actively seeking new land opportunities in these areas and others across the south east.
