Steve Lees, Director at smartnewhomes.com, on the High Court ruling that the scrapping of housing targets was unlawful:

“Today’s High Court ruling really is a wake up call for the coalition government which has swept away existing planning policy with no thought of the immediate effect on the housebuilding industry. Local authorities and their planners up and down the country have already been working in a vacuum with no timescale or implementation plans for the proposed localism bill.

“Housebuilders have had their hands tied since the new government came to power and are struggling over how to deal with the complete lack of clarity on housing plans. The government should heed this ruling and look again at its proposed policy and the effect it will have on the housebuilding industry in the UK.”
