Residents at McCarthy & Stone’s Highfield Court development in Worthing rolled up their sleeves and showed off their green fingers this month by planting a tree to commemorate The Royal British Legion’s 90th birthday.
The tree planting ceremony, which coincided with National Tree Week (27 Nov – 5 Dec), the UK’s largest tree celebration, gave residents an opportunity to honour the charity’s longstanding work.
Sharon Callcut, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone South East, explains: “Earlier this year, McCarthy & Stone chose to support The Royal British Legion as its charity of the year. Together with our residents we wanted to do something special to mark The Legion’s 90 year milestone and what better way than to plant a tree in their name?“
“We look forward to seeing the tree flourish in the years to come and residents living at Highfield Court have said that every time they look out of the window and see the tree, they will think of The Royal British Legion and all the hard work it has, and continues, to do.”
For anyone looking for retirement living in Worthing, Highfield Court offers a collection of 41 one and two bedroom apartments with prices starting from just £148,950.
Design features include 24 hour emergency call points, electrical sockets at a raised height to reduce bending, illuminated light switches, a video entry system, easy grip lever taps and energy efficient heating. There is also a landscaped garden, residents’ lounge, laundry room, lift and a house manager based at the development.
