McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading retirement builder, has started construction work on 32 new retirement properties in Stopsley, Luton.

The new purpose-built development, located on Hitchin Road, will comprise a mix of one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments exclusively for the over 60s.

Robin Pike, regional sales and marketing director, explains: “To make the most of your retirement years you want peace of mind, comfort and independence. Our new development will offer just this and more. The apartments will be low maintenance in design and will benefit from modern fittings, good security and will have a number of specialist features.”

These features include 24-hour emergency call points, electrical sockets at a raised height to reduce bending, illuminated light switches, a camera entry system, easy grip lever taps in the bathroom and kitchen and energy efficient heating.

Residents will also be able to enjoy landscaped gardens, socialise and relax in the communal lounge and invite family and friends to stay in the development’s guest suite. A laundry room, lift and private parking will also be located on site.

The development is conveniently located within easy reach of the town centre and public transport services.

Apartments will be available to buy off plan in spring 2011 with first occupations taking place in September 2011.

McCarthy & Stone has been providing developments of privately owned retirement apartments across the UK for nearly 30 years.
