A successful two day event marked the opening of McCarthy & Stone's new retirement development, Cabot Court in Longwell Green, Bristol, this week.

Anyone interested in finding out about Retirement Living at the development was able to enjoy a VIP first viewing of the beautifully decorated show complex and the development's communal facilities. The fully furnished show apartment was open to help visitors visualise what life could really be like at the development and sparkling wine was served throughout the day in the communal residents' lounge to give visitors an opportunity to relax and speak to McCarthy & Stone's experienced team.

The development, which comprises 29 one and two bedroom independent living retirement apartments, has been built exclusively for the over-60s.

Aileen King, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone South West, comments: "Our Retirement Living schemes offer independence combined with the peace of mind of additional security, low maintenance and companionship. The new development in Longwell Green offers retirees all of this and more. The apartments benefit from modern features and are stylish, pleasing to the eye and as a whole designed to be safe, easy and convenient to live in".

Each property comprises an open plan lounge and dining room, adjoining kitchen, one or two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Special features include 24 hour emergency call points, electrical sockets at a raised height to reduce bending, illuminated light switches, a security entry system, easy grip lever taps in the bathroom and kitchen and energy efficient heating.

The development is built to code of sustainable homes and includes energy efficient underfloor heating, low energy lighting and higher specification insulation.

Residents at Cabot Court will also be able to enjoy beautiful gardens, socialise and relax in the communal lounge and invite family or friends to stay at the development's guest suite.
