As part of McCarthy & Stone's ongoing support for The Royal British Legion and Poppy Scotland, the UK's largest retirement specialist is hosting a series of 'Big Scottish Poppy Parties' at five retirement developments in Scotland, and is inviting over 60s to join them for afternoon tea to help celebrate The Royal British Legions' 90th Anniversary.
'Big Scottish Poppy Parties' will run from 2pm-4pm on Friday 10 June, 2011, and visitors to Moravia Court in Forres; Cumbrae Court in Largs; Venlaw View in Peebles; Fishersview Court in Pitlochry and Strathmore Court in Forfar will be welcomed with a warm cup of tea and a celebratory slice of cake. They will then be able to take a tour of the stunning show complex and discover the many benefits offered by modern retirement living.
McCarthy & Stone chose The Royal British Legion as its 'Charity of the Year' and aims to raise at least £30,000 for the charity which provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served or are serving in the armed forces, and their families.
Suzanne McElhiney, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone in Scotland said, "We are really proud at McCarthy & Stone to be supporting such a worthy cause. Many of our residents are veterans themselves or have friends and family in the armed forces so it only felt right to celebrate The Royal British Legion's 90th Anniversary, whilst also showing our support for Poppy Scotland.
"The residents at each of the five participating developments are really looking forward to their tea party and we believe it will be a popular event. Being able to celebrate such an occasion will only strengthen the great sense of community at each of these developments, and that is something we really want our visitors to feel when they come to see the properties on offer.
"The opportunity to form lasting companionships with like-minded individuals is just one of the many unique benefits retirement living with McCarthy & Stone offers and we always welcome the chance to show our visitors just how easy it can be for them to enjoy a long and fulfilling retirement here too."
Living in a McCarthy & Stone retirement property allows residents to maintain a completely independent lifestyle in a secure and safe environment. Each development offers a choice of one and two bedroom apartments exclusively for those aged 60 and over.
In addition to a low maintenance property, residents can enjoy landscaped gardens and a residents' lounge and family and friends can even come to stay in a hotel-style guest suite.
