Staff from Taylor Wimpey, the leading housebuilder behind a number of developments of new homes in Berkshire, property for sale in Hampshire, houses for sale in Buckinghamshire, property in Surrey and houses in Middlesex are riding from London to Brighton for charity.

Seven determined Taylor Wimpey West London employees are hoping to raise £5,000 for charity by completing the legendary London to Brighton bike ride this month.

Staff from the Hook headquarters of the leading housebuilder, which is currently constructing developments of property for sale in Berkshire, houses in Hampshire, property in Buckinghamshire, new homes in Surrey and houses for sale in Middlesex.

But the challenge for one of the team members is greater than for most of those undertaking the 54-mile route from Clapham Common to the south coast on 19th June - as Land Director Andy Moore is still recovering from a broken leg.

Andy (42) was injured playing football back in November, and because he'd broken his leg badly twice before, it's only just recently that he's started to walk without the aid of crutches.

He said: "I thought doing the London to Brighton ride was a good target for me to try and get fit. I'm only just coming off crutches but I've been out on the bike and I've done quite a bit of swimming.

"I'm not too worried about it as I did the ride about ten years ago and didn't really do any training, but I suppose I might regret it half way through!"

The Taylor Wimpey cyclists reckon they are probably one of the older teams in this year's ride, but say what they lack in youth, they make up for in experience and enthusiasm.

Andy, the youngest member of the team, will be joined by keen cyclists Margo and David Jordan, plus Jill Greenwood who has completed the ride four times previously. London-to-Brighton debutants Malcolm Vaughan, Phil Walkers and Neil Dearmer complete the group, who are all based at the Taylor Wimpey West London offices in Hook, Hampshire.

Andy, who lives in Kingston upon Thames, says: "Once I said I was doing the ride, all the others else decided to take part too. They're all taking it quite seriously and going out training. It's a good social event and it should be a nice day out."

All the proceeds raised by their efforts will go to the British Heart Foundation, which organises the event, and the team say they're delighted to be helping make a difference to such a worthy cause.

Andy added: "The British Heart Foundation is such a worthwhile charity which helps save lives through its pioneering research, helping people reduce their heart health risks, and supporting and caring for heart patients.

"We are only too happy to support the charity's work to help enable further advances in heart research and treatment.

"We are really grateful to everyone who's sponsored us so far, and hope with even more help we can reach our £5,000 target."

Taylor Wimpey West London has new homes developments in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Middlesex and Surrey.
