Planning permission has been granted for a new retirement development in Chorlton Cum Hardy. McCarthy & Stone, the UK's market leader in retirement living, has been given the go-ahead to build an attractive collection of 47 apartments exclusively for those aged 60 and over.

The one and two bedroom properties will be ideally situated in the desirable suburb of Chorlton Cum Hardy, just four miles south west of Manchester City Centre. As such, the development is well placed to enjoy the the wide range of amenities on offer in the city.

McCarthy & Stone has over 30 years' experience in the retirement living sector and currently has nearly 150 selling developments across the UK.

All McCarthy & Stone developments are designed to promote an active and independent lifestyle for the over 60s and include facilities such as a residents' lounge, guest suite, laundry room and a lift. A house manager oversees the running of the developments and a security entrance system and 24-hour emergency call points provide peace of mind for both residents and their families. All properties are low maintenance and energy efficient.

Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Director, comments: "We're thrilled to be adding to our property portfolio in Manchester, and introducing the McCarthy & Stone lifestyle to Chorlton Cum Hardy. As specialists in this area, we understand what our customers want from their retirement. What we offer them is the chance to retain their independence whilst having the peace of mind of additional security, low maintenance and companionship."

Construction will begin on the new development in March 2012, for a sales release in July 2012.
