Community boost for new homes in Leighton Buzzard

Taylor Wimpey has handed over the keys to a brand new community hall at its Billington Grove development of new homes for sale in Leighton Buzzard.

Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has unveiled a brand new community centre at its popular Billington Grove development of new build homes in Leighton Buzzard.

The lease for the exciting new facility, known as Sandhills Community House, was formally handed over to local community group Voluntary and Community Action before the building was officially opened to the public on Wednesday 10th August.

The fully equipped community centre in Plover Road is located in a specially converted four-bedroom Taylor Wimpey property in Leighton Buzzard and features a large meeting room, an interview room and kitchen on the ground floor, plus offices and a meeting room upstairs.

It will be open for the benefit of Billington Grove residents and the wider community to host events, meetings and social groups for the next five years. At the end of this five-year period, the centre will be replaced by either a new temporary facility or a permanent community building elsewhere within the development.

Helen Nottingham, Partnership Officer for Voluntary and Community Action, which will run the centre on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council, adds: "Sandhills Community House will be a focal point for positive social and community activities, and we believe it will help this new neighbourhood to develop into a thriving and cohesive community.

"We're very much looking forward to welcoming local residents here, and we hope as many people as possible will make the most of this fantastic facility."

A selection of family-size properties is currently on sale at Billington Grove, including three-bedroom homes from just £190,000, four-bedroom houses from only £325,000 and five-bedroom properties from £330,000.

Selected plots are available with the Government's new FirstBuy scheme, through which qualifying first-time buyers can secure their new home with just a 75% mortgage and a 5% deposit.

Under the initiative, Taylor Wimpey and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) provide a 20% joint loan, repayable at the end of the 25-year mortgage term or after the property is sold. Full details, including terms, conditions and eligibility, are available from the Sales Executive.

The Billington Grove Sales Centre is located at 21 Kestrel Way, off Billington Road, Leighton Buzzard, and is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm and Mondays from 1.30pm to 5pm.
