People in Long Eaton are being invited to join residents at McCarthy & Stone's Brooklands Court development for afternoon tea to raise vital funds for children's charity Barnardo's.

Residents and guests will be able to enjoy tea, coffee and a slice of cake at the event from 2pm to 4pm, on 27th October at Brooklands Court on Tamworth Road.

The organisers are raising money for Barnardo's, the UK's leading children's charity, by donating £10 for every visitor on the day. People will also be invited to make a £1 donation to win a Barnardo's bear by correctly guessing its name.

Sue Blackman, Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, said: "We're delighted to be holding this afternoon tea in aid of Barnardo's. The charity achieves some remarkable things for children across the UK and they really need as much support as possible to continue this good work.

"I'd like to welcome members of the public to come and join in the fun for a very worthy cause."

Barnardo's runs over 40,000 projects across the UK that transform the lives of children and young people every day.

McCarthy & Stone is currently selling a number of one and two bedroom Retirement Living apartments at Brooklands Court.

Each of the properties' low maintenance design is ideal for anyone looking for a more manageable home that offers continued independence in later life. The light and airy open lounge and dining room adjoins a well appointed kitchen comprising modern fitted units, a built in oven and hob plus a fridge freezer.

The double bedroom includes fitted wardrobes, a telephone point and TV aerial socket for added convenience and the modern bathroom benefits from easy grip lever taps, a built in vanity unit and a heated towel rail. And for added security, each apartment has 24 hour emergency call points, a video entry system and double glazing throughout.

Residents at Brooklands Court can also enjoy landscaped gardens that are regularly maintained by an external company, socialise and relax in the communal lounge and invite family or friends to stay at the development's hotel style guest suite. There is also a house manager who oversees the running of the development, for additional peace of mind.

To find out more about Retirement Living at Brooklands Court please visit the show complex on Tamworth Road which is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30am to 5.00pm.
