Taylor Wimpey, the leading housebuilder behind high-quality developments of new homes in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Peterborough has recruited Dominic Harman as its new Managing Director.

Leading local housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has appointed a new man to its head up the company responsible for developing new East Midlands property for sale in as its former Managing Director prepares for retirement.

Dominic Harman has taken over as Managing Director of the regional business, which is currently creating developments of new build homes in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Peterborough. He succeeds previous incumbent Steve Farmer, who has moved to the part-time position of Special Projects Director before he retires in December.

Dominic (52), a Chartered Builder, was born and raised in Derbyshire and has worked in construction for his entire professional life, having left school at 16 to become an apprentice carpenter and joiner.

After rising through the ranks of the industry, he has enjoyed successful spells in senior positions for Beazer Homes, David Wilson Homes, and joins Taylor Wimpey after 11 years as Managing Director for Persimmon Homes West Midlands.

Following his appointment to his latest role at Taylor Wimpey East Midlands' headquarters near Fosse Park, Leicester, Dominic, paid tribute to the work of his predecessor who has given 44 years loyal and unbroken service to the company.

Not only did Steve guide the business to continuing success despite the recession, but he was also able to hand over an impressive 1,027 development plots, purchased in the last 12 months, to his successor when he stepped down from the position, giving Dominic a head start in his efforts to take the business forward.

"Steve has managed this business through the most difficult downturns that the industry has ever faced - and he has managed it extremely well, leaving the company on an extremely sound footing," says Dominic.

"To have been able to purchase more than 1,000 plots in the past twelve months - in spite of the current economic climate - is a fantastic achievement, and it's a tremendous springboard from which I can go forward.

"Steve has been absolutely brilliant with me since I took over his role and he's always on hand to help when I need him, which is a very rare privilege when you take on such a senior role. He's certainly a hard act to follow, but I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Dominic, a father of four, lives in Birmingham with his partner, Cheryl, and is an avid supporter of Derby County FC. Outside of work, he enjoys keeping fit, eating out, walking his dog and going to the cinema.

He was attracted to his new role because it offered a fresh and exciting challenge to take an already successful business to the next level.

"For me, this was an opportunity to take over a very well established regional business which covers a much wider geographic area," says Dominic.

"My aim is to ensure we become even more firmly established in the areas Taylor Wimpey East Midlands has spread to in recent years - and continue to concentrate on what we are good at, which is looking after our customers and building an extremely good product.

"We are proud of what we build and we are lucky enough to be in a business where we are always providing a benefit to the community, whether it's an ideal home for an individual, much-needed housing for a local area, or new public facilities for an entire community.

"I have always been in the housebuilding industry and I'm passionate about what we do. A new home is the biggest single thing a person will purchase during their lifetime, and owning a property is something everyone aspires to. It's my role to ensure that we are fulfilling these aspirations, as well as meeting and exceeding our customers' ever-rising expectations when they choose to invest in a Taylor Wimpey home."

Taylor Wimpey East Midlands offers a wide range of high-quality homes for sale at developments across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Peterborough.
