McCarthy & Stone, the UK market leader in retirement living, has announced the appointment of Richard Williams to the position of Managing Director for the company's regional office in the Midlands.

Based in Coventry, Richard's new role will see him take overall accountability for the profitable development of the regional business and the leadership of the regional team. Key responsibilities will include land acquisition, the design, planning and construction of new developments and sales of new and pre-owned apartments.

Richard brings considerable expertise to the role gained through 19 years with Aldi Stores, most latterly as Property Director responsible for the company's expansion strategy. Prior to that, Richard held roles as Operations Director and Finance and Administration Director for Aldi's Northern region. Richard also served in the Army with the Royal Engineers achieving the rank of Captain.

Richard comments: "It is very exciting to be joining a company that is constantly evolving to ensure success in an ever-changing marketplace. I look forward to delivering strong bottom line results in a complex customer-led, property business to build on the success McCarthy & Stone has experienced to date."

McCarthy & Stone's regional office in Coventry is currently selling retirement apartments at 34 developments across the Midlands and employs 130 personnel. In 2012, the regional business will launch a further 10 developments with plans to purchase an additional 15 sites over the next 12 months.
