Deciding to move from your family home to a purpose built retirement apartment can be a daunting experience. However, at McCarthy & Stone's Assisted Living development, Laurel Court in Cheriton, potential purchasers can now test drive an apartment without obligation following the introduction of the Experience scheme.
Through the initiative, anyone considering purchasing an apartment at Laurel Court will be able to stay in the development's fully furnished one bedroom guest suite for up to two nights free of charge.
For two days, they can call Laurel Court 'home' and make use of all the facilities at the development, have lunch in the restaurant, enjoy the immaculate gardens, and meet the estate manager along with other residents in the communal lounge. Visitors can also get a feel for the area and work out the proximity to local shops and transport links.
Sharon Callcut, regional marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone, explains: "Living in a McCarthy & Stone Assisted Living property offers many unique benefits that can only be appreciated by experiencing the lifestyle first hand. Our Experience scheme is an easy-to-use and friendly service that enables people to live in one of our apartments and see for themselves what life is like on the development without any obligation. I would encourage anyone who is interested in a retirement property to get in touch."
McCarthy & Stone, the UK's leading retirement developer, is currently selling a range of one and two bedroom Assisted Living apartments at the Stanley Road development, available exclusively for those over the age of 70.
In addition to stylish, low maintenance properties, Laurel Court also benefits from communal facilities and support services for residents when they need them, either now or in the future; all in a safe and secure environment that offers peace of mind and continued independence in a property they continue to own.
On site, there is a waitress service restaurant. Whilst the apartment's own fitted kitchen is well equipped, residents can choose to dine with family and friends in the waitress service restaurant which offers a freshly prepared, hot meal at lunchtime 365 days of the year. And, for those who are unable to make it down to the restaurant due to illness, meals can even be brought to their apartment.
Domestic Assistance is also available. One hour a week is automatically provided to residents at Laurel Court as part of the service charge but additional assistance can be purchased should it be required, on either a short or a longer term basis. Washing, ironing, shopping and other day to day chores can all be done on the resident's behalf if required, leaving more time to enjoy their new found independence.
Each apartment is wheelchair accessible throughout and comprises one or two bedrooms, an open plan lounge/dining room, a fitted kitchen and a bathroom incorporating both a bath and separate level access shower with non slip flooring.
Security is another important feature at Laurel Court. Staff are on site 24 hours a day and can be summoned in an instant courtesy of the 24 hour emergency call system. Importantly for both residents and their family, Assisted Living offers the reassurance and peace of mind that their loved ones are in good hands.
A communal lounge is available at Laurel Court for residents to meet for a chat over a cup of tea while also providing a venue for the many social events that are regularly organised. Furthermore, there is a hotel-style guest suite for hire should a little extra room be needed for putting up family and friends and a function room is available for private parties and gatherings.
And for those who require it, either now or in the future, personal care is also available from the on site care team should the need arise. This can be on a short or a longer term basis and importantly, the level of care is totally flexible to meet the changing needs of residents over time and, unlike a residential care home, you only pay for the care you receive.
Prices start from £129,950. Anyone interested in finding out more about the Experience scheme and Laurel Court is invited to visit the show complex, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30am to 5.00pm.
