Staff and residents at McCarthy & Stone's developments in Surrey are asking the local community to join them in spreading some happiness amongst those who need it this New Year.
On behalf of the UK's leading children's charity, Barnardo's, the developer has launched a Unwanted Christmas Gift Appeal at either Lewis Court in Redhill, Reeves Court in Camberley, or Dial Stone Court in Weybridge in order to collect a variety of wonderful presents that can then be given to disadvantaged youngsters throughout the region. People are being invited to drop off unwanted Christmas present to the any of the developments anytime during January for February.
Wendy Slingo, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, said: "Whether big or small, your unwanted Christmas gifts will bring smiles to young people who have not been as fortunate this Christmas. We're hoping that our Gift Appeal in aid of Barnardo's will prove to be a fantastic initiative that will help give many children in our region a positive start to 2012.
"Barnardo's achieves some remarkable things for children, both here, and across the UK, but they really need as much support as possible to continue this good work. If any members of the public could help by donating a gift for a child, we would urge you to make a difference by bringing along a new toy to the sales office at any of the Surrey developments and we'll do the rest."
Barnardo's is the UK's largest children's charity providing much needed support for over 100,000 children across 400 projects nationally. It was chosen as McCarthy & Stone's 'Charity of the Year' in October, and the retirement specialists are aiming to raise at least £50,000 for the organisation over the next 12 months.
