Staff and residents at McCarthy & Stone's developments in Cheshire are asking the local community to join them in spreading some happiness amongst those who need it this New Year.
On behalf of the UK's leading children's charity, Barnardo's, the developer has launched a Toy Appeal at either Beatty Court in Nantwich, Bernard Court in Holmes Chapel, Forest Court in Chester or Jessop Court in Little Sutton, in order to collect a variety of wonderful gifts that can then be given to disadvantaged children throughout the region. People are being invited to drop off any unwanted Christmas presents or new toys to the development anytime throughout January and February.
Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, said: "Whether big or small, your unwanted Christmas gifts will bring smiles to children who have not been as fortunate this Christmas. We're hoping that our Toy Appeal in aid of Barnardo's will prove to be a fantastic initiative that will help give many children in our region a positive start to 2012.
"Barnardo's achieves some remarkable things for children, both here, and across the UK, but they really need as much support as possible to continue this good work. If any members of the public could help by donating a gift for a child, we would urge you to make a difference by bringing along a new toy to the sales office at any of our Cheshire sites and we'll do the rest."
Barnardo's is the UK's largest children's charity providing much needed support for over 100,000 children across 400 projects nationally. It was chosen as McCarthy & Stone's 'Charity of the Year' in October, and the retirement specialists are aiming to raise at least £50,000 for the organisation over the next 12 months.
All McCarthy & Stone developments in the region have been designed especially for people over the age of 60, who are seeking a secure and low-maintenance home in which to enjoy their retirement, without losing their independence, or relinquishing home ownership. Each self-contained Retirement Living apartment is linked to a 24-hour personal emergency call service and a closed-circuit TV system for complete peace of mind.
The developments each have an elegantly furnished central lounge for social events, a guest suite where friends and family can stay overnight and a laundry room. General maintenance is overseen by the resident House Manager, who is also a good neighbour to all.
