Staff at McCarthy & Stone's regional head office in Coventry have been looking a bit green around the gills recently following some green-themed fun in aid of the UK's leading children's charity, Barnardo's.

Staff at the offices located on Harry Weston Road donned head-to-toe green outfits and spent a day living, eating and breathing green, in order to raise £110 for Barnardo's, McCarthy & Stone's 'Charity of the Year'.

Richard Williams, regional managing director for McCarthy & Stone, said: "Although we work at different ends of the age spectrum, the aim of providing independence and improved quality of life is something both McCarthy & Stone and Barnardo's share.

"Everyone had a wonderful time dressing up and doing fun activities for Barnardo's. We hope that the money we raised will go some way to making a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our region, and can't wait to get started on our next fundraising initiative for this very worthy cause."

Barnardo's is the UK's largest children's charity providing much needed support for over 100,000 children across 400 projects nationally. It was chosen as McCarthy & Stone's 'Charity of the Year' in October, and the retirement specialists are aiming to raise at least £50,000 for the organisation over the next 12 months.

McCarthy & Stone, Britain's leading retirement builder, provides two different kinds of development across the Midlands, dependent on customer's needs. Retirement Living schemes offer an active, independent retirement lifestyle with the peace of mind of additional security, low maintenance and companionship. In comparison, McCarthy & Stone's Assisted Living developments are designed for those requiring a little more help and support in later life, with additional facilities such as a waitress service restaurant and flexible services including personal care and domestic assistance. Both offer continued home ownership.
