Ever wondered if years of hoarding your hidden treasures could mean there 'Cash in the Attic'? Well if you have, perhaps you should visit McCarthy & Stone's Stanhope Court retirement development in Horsforth because a variation of the 'Antiques Roadshow' is coming to town.
On 22nd February, from 2pm until 4pm, local TV and radio antiques expert, Gary Don, will be dropping in to Stanhope Court on Brownberrie Lane, to cast his expert eye over any treasured possessions people wish to have valued.
For the special event, members of the local community are invited to join residents at the retirement apartments in bringing along one or two personal items for Gary's expert assessment. And for every item valued, McCarthy & Stone are asking for a £1 donation in order to raise much needed funds for 'Charity of the Year', Barnardo's.
Fiona Brooks, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy & Stone, said: "There may be people in the community that are harbouring some real treasures. Even if you doesn't particularly want to sell your items, it's always good to learn a little more about where these things might of come from, or what they might be worth, because you never know, there is always the chance of finding a valuable heirloom!
"What's more, this is all in aid of a very worthy cause - Barnardo's achieves some remarkable things for children across the UK and they really need as much support as possible to continue this good work. I'd like to welcome members of the public to come along and join in the fun, and meet our very own local celebrity in the process!"
Valuation appointments at the event are limited and will be awarded on a first come first served basis to those who contact the sales office at Stanhope Court.
Stanhope Court is designed to offer the over 60's a hassle free and independent lifestyle in a secure and manageable property they continue to own. Consisting of 41 purpose-built one and two bedroom retirement apartments, residents at Stanhope Court can enjoy landscaped gardens and a communal residents' lounge.
