Youngsters at a Staffordshire primary school are getting their noses into some brand new books thanks to a donation from Taylor Wimpey's Broadhurst Gardens development of new homes for sale in Cannock.

A Taylor Wimpey development of property for sale in Cannock is helping to spread the joy of reading at Littleton Green Community School - by donating cash to help re-stock its library.

The leading housebuilder, which is behind the Broadhurst Gardens development of houses for sale in Huntington, Cannock, has gifted £200 to spend on new books to the primary school.

"We approached several organisations to see if they could help us buy new books, and Taylor Wimpey was the only one which came forward," says Lynn Small, headteacher of the school in Colliers Way, close to the Taylor Wimpey development of new build homes in Cannock.

"We are incredibly grateful for such a generous donation. Although we moved to a brand new site in 2009, the books in our library are quite old as they are the same ones we had in our old library."

Pupils at Littleton Green have the honour of selecting which titles to buy with the money, as Mrs Small explains: "The children are offered the chance to apply for a job as a school librarian.

"Those who were successful are now busy going through the library's database to find out which are the most popular books with the pupils, and will choose according to the results."

Carl Cooke, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: "As a responsible housebuilder, we recognise the need to support the local community.

"When we were approached by Littleton Green Community School we were only too happy to help and I hope the children have many hours of pleasure reading their new books."

Broadhurst Gardens offers a choice of homes for families moving to Huntington, including magnificent four-bedroom houses priced from only £189,995.
Further information on the development is available by visiting the Sales Centre, located off Stafford Road, Huntington, and open from 11am to 5pm, Thursday to Monday.
