Freezing temperatures are continuing to grip the UK, and for many Brits in older homes this means the threat of burst pipes.

Poor insulation and a weak energy efficiency performance mean that older properties are placed at risk of freezing pipes bursting and soaking their house.

In contrast, new homes are required to meet higher energy efficiency standards, and this means improved insulation and a reduced risk of pipes bursting.

Carole Gallagher, head of household claims at the insurer Aviva, explained: "Freezing and burst pipes can be a real problem - in some cases ruining entire floors of your home. The risk can be worse in traditional properties without modern heating systems or properly insulated pipes. "

The Victoria Park development from Ward Homes in Dartford reaches the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, making them among the most energy efficient in the country.

Residents of the 116 properties therefore benefit from lower energy bills and increased peace of mind during cold weather, as temperatures remain low over the coming days.ADNFCR-1100-ID-801289584-ADNFCR
