David Wilson Homes' Bentley Meadows development has picked up a prestigious award from the North West Leicestershire District Council.

The local authority gave the development, located in Castle Donington, an 'A' grade rating in its innovative ourplace scheme.

The council's initiative was introduced to encourage developers to create well designed buildings and places that contribute positively to everyday lives and support the built, natural and social environment.

It is the latest in a long line of David Wilson Homes' developments that have picked up the rating, following in the footsteps of Discovery Gardens in Coalville and Poppyfields in Ellistown.

Christine Fisher, chief executive of North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "Bentley Meadows is a great example of how this can work in practice and is very deserving of its 'A' rating certificate."

John Reddington, managing director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said the homebuilder was "delighted" to pick up its third 'A' grade rating in the area.ADNFCR-1100-ID-801393530-ADNFCR
