Such is the state of the property market at the moment,
first time buyers have been advised to explore all the options which are open to them.
Robert Dibb, a spokesperson for FirstRungNow.com, said that nothing should be dismissed before getting all the facts.
"We have lots of people calling saying that they don't want to look at shared ownership for example, however, when we run through all the details it often becomes something that is quite appealing," he added.
Mr Dibb went on to say that the key part of getting on to the property ladder for the first time is the deposit. He advised that if investors are in a position to live at home with parents while saving then this is a good way of building up money.
First time buyers could be helped by offers such as FirstBuy or NewBuy, which are available on the Cedar Walk development on the outskirts of Leicester.
